New Irish Internationals For Loreto

Congratulations to Bronwyn O’Donnell, Sue Vincent and Noreen O’Riordan who were part of the Ireland Masters Squad who won the Home Nations 2010 tournament which Ireland hosted for the first time at Lisnagarvey from 21^{st -23rd August.}

It was Sue and Noreen’s first appearance in the green, while Bronnie had already played for the team in their inaugural appearance in Swansea in May.

The Squad came together for the first time in early May and has trained regularly since then, with a full squad of 18 players travelling to Lisnagarvey. Ireland faced tough opposition in both the England and Wales sides, who have been competing at Masters Level for a number of years and have a huge pool of players at this level to draw from.

Undaunted, Ireland stepped up to the challenge and were rewarded with a 2-1 victory against Wales on Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday, Ireland took on England. By half time Ireland were 1-0 down, but equalized from a well worked short corner in the 54th minute. A draw would have been enough for the Irish ladies, but Sue Vincent wasn’t taking any chances and scored a cracking winner with 7 minutes to go to ensure victory for the “Girls in green”!!
