1sts through to Irish Senior Cup Final

The 1sts took on reigning champions, UCD, in Irish Senior Cup Semi Final at Belfield. The game was delayed by over an hour due to earlier fixtures going to extra time, meaning that Loreto had to play without Nicci Daly, who was sitting an exam.

Loreto took the lead on 15 minutes from a swift counter attack finished off by Cathy McKean following great work by Lizzie Colvin. Loreto failed to covert from a number of short corners and went into half time with just a one goal lead. UCD had a good spell of pressure during the second half but a strong defensive display from Loreto gave them few clear cut chances.

The match finished 1 – 0 and Loreto progress to their first Irish Senior Cup Final since 2003. They will take on Railway Union, who beat Pegasus 3-1 in Belfast, on the weekend of 8th and 9th May.
